Timber-look extension with panoramic glazing that bridges the garden and living space in all seasons.
The Claeys family in Kortrijk dreamed of a garden room that felt handcrafted and hospitality-grade. Their brief called for a timber aesthetic without the upkeep, plus glazing that would stand up to Belgian winters. The existing patio slab was sound, making it the perfect footprint for a new thermal envelope.
We built the structure using WarmWood foiled PVC profiles, engineered with a concealed steel core for stability. The corner-to-corner glazing opens sightlines to the lawn, while the French doors introduce a classic rhythm to the façade. All glass units are argon-filled, low-e coated, and fitted with warm-edge spacers to keep condensation at bay.
Along the roof ridge, we integrated trickle vents that release excess heat on bright days. Floor-to-ceiling gasketed joints keep breezes out when the Atlantic air turns chilly, so the room stays comfortable in every season.
By day, natural light floods the family’s dining space; by night, the wood-grain finish glows warmly under pendant lighting. The glazed corner makes the garden feel within reach even in midwinter, turning the once-unused patio into the most popular room in the house.
