Bold commercial façade upgrade with signature red aluminium framing and daylight-maximising glazing.
The RedLine Innovation Campus in Ghent needed a façade that matched the ambitions of the tech start-ups housed inside. The existing dull grey frames made the lobby feel dated and did little to capture passer-by attention. The developer briefed us to deliver an unmistakable colour statement while improving thermal comfort for the open-plan offices within.
We designed a modular curtain wall system using high-span aluminium mullions, powder-coated in a custom traffic red. Each module houses solar-control double glazing, carefully specified to limit glare on screens while preserving brightness for collaborative zones. Operable tilt-turn sashes are concealed within the larger fixed lights, allowing natural ventilation without disrupting the exterior grid.
All junctions were pressure-tested on-site, and the bold colour has a 25-year warranty against fading thanks to its Qualicoat Class 2 finish — a practical guarantee that the façade will remain the building’s signature for decades.
Staff report cooler summer afternoons and noticeably fewer draughts by winter. The red frames have become an instant landmark for visitors arriving from Ghent Sint-Pieters station, reinforcing the campus brand before guests even step inside.
